A.W. Tozer said, “The most important aspect of the Christian life is prayer.” God delights in answering our prayers. Jesus said in John 14:13-14, “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”
This sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? The nature of this promise is so big and wide that it’s as if Jesus has given us a blank check signed by him that we can cash when we meet the conditions of the promise. When we pray in Jesus’ name, we must pray according to his will and in alignment with his purposes. When our prayers are focused on the glory of God being displayed in our lives, he’s promised to do what we’ve asked of him.
How should we think about the power of prayer in our lives? Here are 20 verses to help form our theology about the power of God, who delights in working through our lives in prayer.

While You Wait
If you are in Christ, you have unfettered access to the throne of God and can trust that when you pray, he hears and delights in answering you. But what do you do while you wait for his answer? You trust.
God’s grace in answered prayer comes to us more often through natural means than supernatural. When you want to grow a garden, you plant your seeds, cultivate them, and watch them grow—and God works the same way. Again, A.W. Tozer said, “God does not work with slot machines. [Prayer] is not about putting a nickel in the slot and getting anything you want. That’s the way people work, not God.”
Just like seeds take time to grow, give your prayers time. Your Father, who knows and loves you, will bring about his perfect will at the perfect time. While you wait, grow in your understanding of his will by being in his Word. It’s there you’ll learn that no good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly (Psa 84:11). Good things take time. Keep praying.
Praying with you,
Cara
