From the very first chapter of the Bible, we learn that God is creative. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” To be made in God’s image (Latin “imago Dei”) means that we are like him. Our reflection in the mirror is not a clone of us but an image of us. In the same way, we image, or reflect God to the world, because we were created like him. Humans are set apart from the rest of creation because, like God, we have intellect, reason, and moral choice. Those faculties and many others are put to good use when we use our creativity.
Are you a creative or a maker—or do you want to be? The good news is that when we write, paint, draw, make music, decorate, design, and cook, and many other creative endeavors, we reflect the imago Dei to the world. And for Christian creatives, these endeavors not only image our Father’s creativity in us but also help us glorify him in the process.
It’s a wonderfully high and holy calling to create for God’s glory! The Word of God has much to say about creativity. Here are 20 Bible verses to start your study.

8. Psalm 8:1–9 (ESV)
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. Trace the lines
Because we are made in the imago Dei, we have the extraordinary privilege of reflecting God’s character through what we make. Every creative act—however ordinary it may seem—can become a kind of mirror, reflecting truth, goodness, and beauty back toward the One who defines them all.
This means that even when your work isn’t explicitly “Christian,” it can still glorify God. A well-crafted sentence, a beautifully arranged room, a meal made with care—these things bear witness to a Creator who declared his own work very good. You don’t have to inscribe a Bible verse on the canvas for your art to be an act of worship.
So create with intention. Make things worthy of the One whose image you bear. And when you finish, trace the lines back to where all good, true, and beautiful things begin — God himself.
