One reason we may overlook the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is that we cannot see him. We understand something of the Father’s love and the Son’s saving work, but the Spirit’s sanctifying, empowering, and instructing ministry can seem more mysterious. We know he’s at work, but we may not always recognize what he’s doing.
Consider this: if you’ve ever experienced a flash of truth about who Jesus is and what he’s done on your behalf, that is the work of the Holy Spirit! He always points us to Jesus and makes him known. C.S. Lewis observed of the Holy Spirit’s role, “In the Christian life you are not usually looking at Him; but He is always acting through you.” Though we cannot see the Spirit, we see the evidence of His work. He opens our eyes to Christ’s beauty, helps us understand God’s Word, and transforms us into the likeness of our Savior.
How well do you recognize the Holy Spirit’s work in your life? Here are 20 Bible verses to help you start to see what he is doing in you.
