20 Bible Verses About Spreading the Gospel

Good news

A few days ago, I had the privilege of attending Charlie Kirk’s memorial service in Phoenix, Arizona. My husband, son, and I, along with some friends, joined an estimated 100,000 people inside the stadium, while millions more watched it online. It was spectacular in many ways, but the most remarkable aspect of all was the sounding out of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. It was amazing!

While this event gave the world a glimpse of the life-changing power of the gospel, it’s rare for it to be shared on this scale. More often than not, the gospel spreads in smaller moments and in heart-to-heart conversations. We share our faith with friends and neighbors, discuss Jesus with coworkers, and look for opportunities to tell those God puts in our path the reason for the hope that is within us.

Spreading the gospel isn’t a task reserved for pastors, preachers, influencers, and people with large platforms. It’s the Great Commission for all Christians! Jesus told us to go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.

Here are 20 verses that remind us that spreading the gospel is what life is all about.

The Good News Goes Forth

The word ‘gospel’ means “good news,” and the good news is that Jesus came and lived a perfect life, died a substitutionary death, and rose again from the grave. He did this to pay the penalty of our sins (which is death) so that you and I can have eternal life in his name. When we believe this and receive him by faith, we will be saved (Rom 10:9-10).

While spreading the gospel is the sacred duty of today, someday, the work will be done. “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14). The truth will be known everywhere, and every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess Jesus Christ is Lord (Phil 2:10-11).

Until that time, we must fulfill the Great Commission and share the gospel with all who will hear. This is the life-changing, eternity-shaping, joy-producing gospel of Jesus Christ.

Who needs to hear the gospel from you today?
