20 Bible Verses About Intimacy with God

Intimacy with God

God walked through the garden and posed the first question of man, “Where are you?” Adam and Eve had sinned against God, ate the forbidden fruit, and were hiding, or at least attempting to hide, from their Creator. But before they took that fateful bite, they knew perfect intimacy with God. Can you imagine how wonderful their experience must’ve been? In the cool of the day, they had walked with God and were perfectly known, loved, and accepted. Before sin entered our world, man and woman lived out what they were made to do: glorify God and enjoy him forever.

Do you long to return to that kind of intimacy with your Creator? Walking with God should characterize the Christian’s life; and when it does, we enjoy the fruit of that intimacy. When we think of intimacy with God, we use phrases that describe this closeness, like ‘drawing near,’ ‘going deep,’ and ‘being close.’

Jesus made a way for us to enjoy this cool-of-the-day fellowship with him again. Sin separated Adam and Eve and all of us from the garden and God’s presence, but Jesus made way for us to draw near again. By his righteousness, he made a way for us to approach him, enjoy him, and walk daily in intimacy with him.
